Why building a business feels so hard

  1. 01Your phone rings all day. Even on holidays.
  2. 02Managers wait for permission instead of deciding.
  3. 03You promoted your best worker. Now they're struggling.
  4. 04You delegate work. It keeps coming back to you.
  5. 05You're still fixing other people's mistakes at 9pm.
  6. 06Problems only show up after something's gone wrong.
  7. 07Managers do the work themselves instead of running their team.
  8. 08Work falls between people and teams. Mistakes, rework, blame.
  9. 09Management meetings happen. Nothing changes afterwards.
  10. 10Good people care, but keep dropping the ball.
  11. 11Nobody has a clear picture of what good work looks like.
  12. 12Everyone's busy. The numbers aren't moving.
How it works

Four steps. Ninety days.
Measured.

01

Find the bottleneck

For one week you log every call, question and fix that lands on you. We see exactly where the business leans on you. That's your "before" number.

Week 1
02

Make it clear who owns what

With you and your managers we set out who's in charge of what, what they can decide without asking, and what "done right" looks like.

Weeks 2–3
03

Coach your managers

Fortnightly sessions with your supervisors on running the team, having hard conversations, and not doing the work themselves.

Weeks 3–12
04

Count it again

At day 90 we run the log again and compare. Fewer calls to you, fewer fixes, more done without you. You see the difference in numbers.

Day 90
“We argued about the same issue 19 times. Stepback gave us a way to actually solve it. Now we’re growing faster than ever.”
Peter Semrany Owner, All Direct Plumbing
The program

The 90-Day
Step Back Program

Everything your business needs so your managers run the day-to-day and you don't. Done with you, in your business, by one person who does the work. Not a video course.

Common questions

Straight
answers

How much of my time does it take?

About two hours a week at the start, then under an hour. Most of the work is with your managers, not you. That's the point.

What if my managers aren't up to it?

Usually they are, once it's clear what's expected and they've got backing to decide. If after the first month it's clearly a wrong-person problem, we'll tell you straight and help you handle it.

Is this a course or a coaching program?

Neither. It's hands-on work inside your business, with you and your managers, over 90 days. The templates and playbooks are extras, not the product.

How do you measure the results?

In week 1 you log every call, question and fix that lands on you. That's the baseline. At day 90 we count again, same log, same measure. You see the change in real numbers from your business.

Do you work with any industry?

Yes. The problem is the same in trades, logistics, manufacturing, hospitality, professional services and more. What matters is the size and that you have managers in place.

What happens on the discovery call?

Thirty minutes. We talk through your week and your managers, and I'll show you where the business is leaning on you. If it's a fit, I'll explain the program. If not, you still leave with something useful.

Discovery call

Find out where your business is leaning on you.

Thirty minutes. No pressure. You'll leave knowing exactly what's pulling everything back to you, and what to do about it.

We’ll use these details to respond to your enquiry and arrange a discovery call.
